Why We Chose Cotton Percale

When you’re in the market for new bedding, there are a lot of things to consider. You likely want to find something that matches your personal taste, but it must also match your budget. It is also important to make sure your bedding will last, but, of course, it must be comfortable too. Keeping these things in consideration while shopping can become stressful, taking some of the fun out of the decision-making process.

Fortunately, we have used our years of experience in the industry to make some of our own choices within our products. These choices have been made to ensure that all products are of the highest quality, regardless of what you choose. One of our most prominent choices has been the decision to use the percale weaving method in all of our cotton products. We believe that cotton percale results in the best product, and we’re here to tell you why.

What is Percale?

Like most textiles, bedding fabric is made through the weaving process. Usually done on a loom, weaving consists of two threads intertwining at right angles. There are various weaving styles, including sateen, twill, and percale.

Percale is known for its “over and under” crisscross weaving style, which results in a close, tight weave.  Percale can be used with various types of fiber, including polyester, cotton, and more. As with most weaving styles, the final product benefits from the use of long fibers to create even more strength and durability. Loomstead uses Long Staple Egyptian Cotton in all percale weaves.

Why We Chose Percale

We pride ourselves on providing our customers with durable bedding options that won’t wear down. In order to ensure this durability, we take into account everything from the fabric type down to the weave. Some weaves provide a fabric that loosen over time, while others provide fabrics that lose their coloring or fall apart. Percale, however, results in a weave that is consistently strong. This is because the crisscross pattern of the percale weaving method results in one of the tightest weaves, leaving little room for wear and tear.

Additionally, percale provides an amount of comfort and convenience that goes beyond other weaving methods. When paired with cotton, cotton percale results in a fabric that is incredibly smooth and balanced. It gives off a crisp, matte finish that is flat and cool to the touch. This results in a soft fabric, perfect for bundling up in the winter and spreading out in the summer. Cotton percale bedding is also very easy to maintain, as there are no tiresome care instructions to worry about.

The Goal

Our goal is to provide high quality, honestly priced bedding products. Through our research and experience, we have been able to determine what materials and methods work best in producing these types of products. We want to make sure that our customers have all the details that go into our decisions. To check out our cotton percale products, please go to
